Well, after 7 years of working probably ten times harder
than they are MEANT to work, my old HP desktop finally
bit the dust. I had spent the past four years upgrading
to the point that I could have easily gotten TWO new
computers if I were not so stubborn and “frugal”.

So even though I am in the midst of now cold weather
and still needing to raise funds to fix my roof and
kitchen, my LIVELIHOOD was at stake so I *bit the bullet*
as they say and got a new one. I got a GREAT deal
and after the irritation of learning a new pc and
trying to get the apps, etc. I needed onto IT, we
are getting along just fine, my NEW pc and me, lol.

And the best part is that within 24 hours I had
recovered 1/3 of the cost of the new one already
which I would have LOST if I had waited! One was
a time sensitive solo pack and the delay of a few
days would have lost me the ad sale so I can say
this cute, streamlined eMachine is alreayd paying
for itself.

How to Start An Online Business

Maybe you’ve lost your job.  Maybe you’re suddenly single with
small children and your former spouse was the breadwinner.
Maybe you’ve just experienced a hurricane and now you need
a new roof. Whatever the case, you’ve decided to take the
plunge and start a business online. Here are some things
to think about before you jump into the mix.

1.  Do I have the discipline to run my own business?

When you run your own business, there are no bosses around
to remind you of deadlines. You have no supervisors looming
over your head to keep you on task. There’s no accounting
department watching what you spend. You don’t have
a marketing department handling the advertising.

You essentially run all the departments. When you are
your own boss you have to have the discipline to keep
working on your business even though other fun things
are going on. You have to learn how to manage your time
differently than you did before you were running a business.

2.   What type of business do I want to start?

There are so many different kinds of businesses to start.

You can be a coach, you can be a freelance writer, you can
be a virtual assistant. You could open your own eBay store.
You could open a store selling info products.

The possibilities are literally endless.

You have to decided what you’re most passionate about and what
will be the most profitable. The way to determine what is the
most profitable is to do research. If you’re opening a store
on eBay, you can go to eBay and look at their reports on what
the hot sellers are. You can also research trends by going to
Google Trends. Just go to google and type in google trends.

If you have an idea for a certain niche, you can type that
word in. If you don’t have a clue you can just browse the
trends that google has listed for hot trends.

Another way to research trends is to frequent forums.

Just go to google and type in (your niche) + forum.
Just replace the words (your niche) with the market
that you’re trying to reach. Spend some time reading
the posts on these forums. Post a survey. Forums are
a great way to see what the market wants because the
people you are trying to reach are already gathered
in one place. You can see what their needs and wants
are easily. Also after you’ve started your business,
you can use the forums to promote your business.

3.  How am I going to promote my business?

This is another extremely important thing to have in place
before you start your business. A lot of times entrepreneurs
get excited and throw up a website and then wonder why they
don’t have any sales. You need to decide on what your
marketing plan is going to be before you start your business.

Are you going to rely on online networking? Are you going to
write articles for reprint on other people’s sites? Are you
going to have a blog (an online journal)? It’s important to
have your plan outlined before you start your business.

Starting an online business is an excellent way to generate
income for your family. Be sure to plan your venture before
you get started. Here’s to your successful online business!

Feedback

Hi Jan,

Great issue. I just have a couple of suggestions
that I think will help MWT look better.

The Marketing Warrioress header/banner I would put
at the top as the first thing and then start the issue.

As for where your name and pic are, I would move down
the name or put the name and pic side by side in a table.

However, I do think you did a great job overall
and so many publishers just send junk and just
want to sell instead of helping someone.

PC Crash Nightmare!

MW

Well, it is with remorse and thanks for being such a useful resource that I must repectfully say goodbye to my seven year old, upgraded to the point of no more upgrades possible, HP desk top computer.

The only thing left TO upgrade or replace was the processor and I put it off a TAD too long and it got to the point where it took 5 to 20 attempts just to BOOT up and once applications started loading up it just froze and would not run.

Lucky for me I have had Operating Systems crash, lightning strikes that destroyed my pc’s and other reasons to get in the habit of backing up BUT, ignoring my own great advice to constantly do this, I found that once again I had neglected to back up the things I would most need when the old PC hit the dust.

I have spent the past few days pretty much unable to work being trying unsuccessfully to FIX the old one to finally breaking down and replacing it with a new one, which I have been learning to use as quickly as possible and slowly but surely getting most of my info, files and other necessities onto it.

I am now thankfully back in business and waiting for a tech friend to put the cd drive from the old computer into the new one safely so that I can access the files and apps I need and then make sure I do as least weekly backups of ALL, including mail, which I am really lax at backing up but contains most of my log-ins, affiliate details, sales and expense records and more.

Good to be back up and running and the lesson today is BACK IT UP and so do constantly!

whew! what a week!

Jan  :-)

Well, I did it. Not only did I get the very first issue
of TAG, or Tallent Agency Gazzette out to my 25 subscribers
on Tuesday but I bit the bullet, as they say, and sent out
the first issue of MWT, or Marketing Warrioress Tips on
Wednesday. Rim will still be a Thursday issue, TAG is
planned to be a Tuesday one and MWT will be sporadic until
I get past 11 subscribers and then I imagine it will go
out on Saturdays. Eventually MWT will replace Rim Digest
ezine which has no mention of marketing or me in its name.

Search Engine Friendly Pages

There is no point in building a website unless there are
visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most
sites is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista
and so on. By designing a search engine friendly site,
you will be able to rank easily in search engines and
obtain more visitors.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots
to index websites to list on their search result pages.
They follow links to a page, read the content of the page
and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing
as people search for it.

To make your site index easily, avoid using frames on your
website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and
they might even abandon your site because of that. Also,
frames make it difficult for users to bookmark a specific
page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present important information in Flash movies or in
images. Search engine robots can only read text on your
source code so if you present important words in Flash
movies and images rather than textual form, your search
engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your
site so that search engine robots know at first glance
what that particular page is about and whether or not to
index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search
engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index
your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like <font> to style your page.
Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are
more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can
eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages
much lighter and faster to load.

First of all, you may be wondering at my *brand* or *handle*
of the Marketing Warrioress. Well, ten years ago in June of
1998, when I started marketing on the internet, there were
very few females as yet in the “territory” and I knew I
wanted to make a statement of sorts about this when I was
amidst my fellow marketers and affiliates. I was invited
to join a then brand new group called the Warriors, which,
of course, was almost all male members and decided that if
I were to be a Female Warrior I would distinguish myself
AS a female and so coined the nickname WarriorESS.

I LOVE all aspects of my working on the net, from being the
editor of now THREE ezines, to selling digital products
and complete business sites to market them with:
http://www.softwarewarrioress.com

to selling for a choice few other marketers, as an affiliate
to make commissions, to selling Memorabilia treasures,
Classic and Out of Print Movies and Collectible Dolls, etc.:
http://www.downmemorylanetreasures.com

to my first online AND offline business, Tallent Agency DTP
and Office Services: http://www.tallentagency.com where
I am newly offering Virtual Assistance, or VA, services

and last but not least, my true love, doing ezines!

To date I have: Rim Digest ezine, where I will celebrate
nine years as the editor on February 10, 2009 AND
the Tallent Agency Gazzette, or TAG, newly started in
October of 2008 and this one, MWT, for Marketing
Warrioress Tips. I may add more or drop one or ?
who knows, lol? But I truly LOVE both doing the ezines
and editing and / or proof reading for others who write
ezines, articles, blogs, web sites, reports, ebooks and
so much more.  :-)

So, you want to try your hand at being an Internet Marketer

I, for one, applaud your decision and will try to be of as
much help as I possibly can. Ten years ago, with a home

decided to go on the net and see if I could find more
potential clients for my business cards, flyers, brochures,
address labels, resumes, etc. I found a few customers by
joining what were then called “safe lists” or groups of
people who joined mailing lists to send each other their
offers. This was before SPAM became so prevalent that we
could barely get OUT our email offers.

I found a few “make money from home on your computer”
offers that *sounded almost too good to be true*, so, of
course, WERE. I fell for some scams and got introduced to
yet another form of cheating and conning those vulnerable
enough to fall for them but also luckily found a few good
and honest money makers and my world of being an internet
marketer was begun.

I have a great store of tips of what TO do and what NOT
to do and will share them as this ezine and web site
progress but wanted to start out with some GEMS I was given
when I asked my over 800 twitter followers to send me THEIR
best tip for internet marketing and these will start out my
list of tips. They are all easy to understand and really
very useful, so with no more chatter, here they are:

#1: Build the relationship first when possible
TodaysMiracles at http://twitter.com/TodaysMiracles

This is my credo. Before we even heard the term “Social
Marketing” I was eager to get to know and interact with my
customers, fellow marketers and after year one of marketing
on the net, my ezine subscribers ( to Rim Digest ezine:
http://www.rimdigest.com which will celebrate its ninth
year anniversary of my being editor on February 10, 2009!)

#2: Stay focused on one project at a time and follow
a formula through to the end. Finish the project.
YvonneLyon at http://twitter.com/YvonneLyon

This is an EXCELLENT tip! I even wrote an article on this
subject – one of my very first – 8 years ago! I had joined
every affiliate/commission program I could find, trying to
do the ezine, still filling office service orders and
literally meeting myself coming and going and having a hard
time getting ANYTHING done! I had to weed out all but my
most favorite and successful affiliate offers, stick to
doing what I loved and could *flow* once getting into and
it made a world of difference in my production!

#3: Sell to yourself first. That is, leave no doubt
in your mind about the value of your product/service.
Then market. Conviction is contagious.
Blair Warren at http://twitter.com/blairwarren

This is priceless! You have to BELIEVE in your product or
service and if so, work is NOT really work AND your
potential customer or client will see YOUR faith in your
offer and feel it along with you! Blair is one of my
favorite twitter followers who has the wit and intelligence
to make everything he offers worth sitting up and listening
to and I am honored to be his friend. He also made the list
of the 50 Most Influential Men in Social Marketing
http://tinyurl.com/6lzzpl

and we are QUITE proud of Sir Blair :-)

#4: Be guided by your creativity, not your pocketbook.
Don’t fall for pricey gimmicks…be true to your brand.
Donna L. Johnson at http://twitter.com/SpeakingDiva

Very good point and pretty self explanatory.

#5: It’s not about you. It’s not about the product.
It’s not about the price. It’s not about anything
else but what clients want.
John Thomas at http://twitter.com/Nailholes

Yes, this is so true. Put the customer’s needs ahead
of anything else and you will both benefit.

Well, there are hundreds of worthwhile tips and lessons
in this wonderful world of internet marketing but these
are, I thought, the best lead ins to the other ideas I
will be sharing with you.

Virtual Assistants: 4 Ways to Get More Clients Today!

If you’re a Virtual Assistant, you know that the one thing that is your lifeblood, the one thing that keeps your income steady, is finding clients. Luckily, there are several ways to keep a steady stream of clients coming in through your door.
Here are just a few:

1. Advertise in Ezines. There are online newsletters everywhere that accept advertising. The key here is to purchase advertising in publications that reach your target market and to create your ad to showcase your expertise. Don’t try to be everything to everyone or you won’t attract clients.

Ad Example of what Not to Do: Hire me to lighten your workload. I can do everything that you don’t want to do. Let’s talk!

Ad Example of what works: Are you ready to get more leads to your business? I will handle your ezine advertising campaign for you. No more searching for targeted ezines, no more writing and tracking your ads. I’ll handle it all it all. My clients experience a boost in subscribers after I complete my ezine advertising campaigns that will pay for my services. Check out my website for testimonials and free tips.

2. Write and Submit Articles. The key here is to stay on topic. Don’t write and submit articles about health or pet care. Present a problem in your article and solve it. Make sure your author bio is very compelling to attract potential clients.

3. Network where *successful* people hang out. A huge mistake that VA’s make is to hang out on forums where there are other people struggling to make money. Instead, join a membership site for your target market and you’ll find yourself in the “inner circle”.

4. Advertise at Shelancers.com. One of the easiest ways to get your name in front of business owners looking for help is to advertise on Shelancers.com. Again, it is crucial that you list your specialty in order to stand out from the other providers. But, if you can find a problem that business owners face, and offer to handle it for them, you’ll attract loyal clients who will continue to work with you.

How To Profit From PLR Products

You see them everywhere these days … on membership websites, as packaged offers, as giveaways, and even as bonuses for certain offers. We’re taking about PLR products. PLR, of course, refers to private label rights, or the license that would enable the holder to alter or modify the contents of the same and even include his name as the author. Normally, PLR products also come with master resale rights, or the license to sell the resale rights of the same products, provided that they are significantly altered from their original form.

The surging popularity of PLR products can be attributed to a variety of reasons. Let’s take a look at them.

* PLR products are more affordable alternatives to actually preparing your own goods. Since PLR products are sold to a lot of people, the cost is shared in common by the would-be purchasers. 100 PLR articles, for example, can cost you around $15 to $10, whereas hiring a ghostwriter to prepare the same amount of articles would set you back around $500 to $1,500 in investment expenses.

* PLR products give you the liberty equivalent to that of the creator’s. You could, technically speaking, do whatever you want with the PLR products you have purchased.

* PLR products will save you a lot of time. They’re already there, ready to be utilized. You won’t have to start from the ground up.

There are many kinds of PLR products available today.  There are PLR articles, PLR eBooks and special reports,  PLR scripts and software programs. There are even PLR websites ready to make some serious money as all you have to do is to upload them to a web server.

So, how do you profit from the PLR products you will purchase? Let’s take a look at the approaches you could take.

1. If the license would allow you to resell the PLR products as they are, you could start making money immediately by marketing them as soon as you get them.

2. If you purchase PLR articles, you could modify each to make them unique and build content sites around them. Put your AdSense code on such websites, market them, then watch your PPC earnings grow.

3. The same PLR articles can also be compiled into eBooks or special reports which you could sell for profit.

4. You could use the same PLR articles as they are as fodders for your autoresponder series. This would give your follow-up system some serious meat, as most of these PLR articles are very informative. Are you maintaining an eZine? Select from your PLR articles the contents which
are appropriate to the theme of your newsletter.

5. You could use the PLR products as bonuses for the offers you have built campaigns for. Selling your own products?  Bundle them with PLR products to increase their value.  Promoting an affiliate merchant’s products? Offer the PLR products you have bought as incentive for anyone who would order the merchant’s products through your affiliate links.

6. You could also use your PLR products as supplemental materials for your sales page. Do you have a highly informative piece in one of your PLR purchases? Clip the same and paste it on a box inside your sales page so that your readers can refer to it to complement whatever you will share on the main parts of your sales copy.

These are just some of the things you could do with your PLR products. The possibilities are endless, further establishing these PLR goodies as fantastic options
for your marketing needs.

8 Ways You Can Benefit from PLR Articles

mw

PLR articles are a hot item these days. The earning opportunities are almost endless. Here are eight fantastic ways by which you can earn from the PLR articles you have purchased.

1. Use them as content for your website. The internet is fueled by a constant need for information, and information is embodied in content. Additionally, search engines love frequently updated content. And since 80% of the traffic you will be able to generate for your website will come from the search engines, investing on a bountiful supply
of content is truly the way to go.

2. Use them as blog entries. Blog and ping, as well as its newest incarnation, tag and ping, is one of the most potent marketing strategies on the internet today. Blogs fare well in search engine results, and maintaining a blog that will promote your main business website will work wonders for your enterprise. Use PLR products as content for the entries of your blog, then ping the blog directories regularly to inform prospective visitors – as well as the search engine spiders – of the new content that has been published. You will be amazed at the results.

3. Use them as source materials for audio products.  Whether you’re preparing an audio package or a podcast, you need substantive information to convey. And what better source for such information than the PLR products you own?  All you have to do is to recite them aloud and record them. A little editing here and there, and you have a great new product waiting to be heard.

4. Use them as source materials for video products. Much like how PLR products can be used for audio concepts, they can likewise be used for video projects. Imagine a movie without a script. That would be disastrous.  PLR products can serve as the scripts for your video offerings. All you have to do is to film the appropriate footage and you’re set to go.

5. Compile them into eBooks. You can gather PLR articles that tackle the same subject matter, and compile them into an eBook that is very unique, one which you can call your own. Sometimes, you’d need to write a line or two just to establish the unity of the materials, but generally, this tactic will work efficiently. Simply prepare an eBook cover and some aesthetic images and you’re ready to sell or give away an eBook that will help a lot of people.

6. Use them as fodder for your article marketing campaign.  A lot of PLR articles are so good that they command a wide readership. And most PLR articles allow you to distribute them as long as some modifications are made. Comply with these requirements, make those PLR articles unique, and submit them to the many article directories in the World Wide Web. You’d be able to build up the back links for your website and increase the awareness for your brand and your business.

7. Use them as content for your eZine. A follow-up system is a must in this day and age of online marketing.  Maintaining a mailing list will ensure that no visitor will go to waste. You can warm up your leads for a future sale.  But during the interim period, you have to provide them with something valuable. PLR articles make great content for your email marketing campaign.

8. Create an e-course out of your PLR articles. Some PLR articles tackle the same subject matter. Group them together, edit them appropriately, and divide them into stages. You will then have an e-course which you can use for your viral marketing endeavors or which you can sell for some immediate profit.
