Finding The Right Home Business Model

Finding the right home business model on the Internet
may or may not be a lot of work. There is no surefire
way to make money, but that doesn’t mean people will
stop trying.

People are finding ways to experiment with new
strategies and are trying to find business models that
actually work for what they need.

The answer is really a no-brainer : If it
doesn’t work, fix it. If your business model is not
working for you, change it. If you are not seeing the
profits you should from your current model, it is time
to change things.

Many businesses have gone through this sort of
change. With more and more people conducting
business over the Internet and more people using
mainstream media, it is only smart to change what no
longer works.

If the tires on your car won’t get you to where you
need to go, then it is obvious that they should
be changed.

Slow sales and slower uptake of online offerings have
forced many companies to focus on their core
competencies.

Companies are now aggressively marketing their services
to companies who need streaming media. Now many businesses
have taken their focus off of hard advertising and are
focusing on media advertising.

They were forced to change their business models or
could have suffered greatly, some even risking
going out of business.

It is very important to have a good business model set
up when going into business for yourself. Learn from
the biggest and most profitable companies.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Between cold weather where in this almost impossible to
heat old house where my HOME OFFICE would not get over
fifty degrees and family / holiday responsibilites, I have
not had a chance to do this ezine until finally today.

I FINALLY got to get my grand daughter, Madison, my oldest
daughter’s daughter AND my grand son, Brayden, who is my
son’s son, 7 months old, BOTH on December 26 so this was
the first time they met and made for ONE happy Grandma!

http://tinyurl.com/9urnf8

we had expected Madison to be jealous of Brayden as she
is so much older and has pretty much had me to herself
BUT she was great and agreed to share HER Grandma with
him and HE WAS JEALOUS OF HER, lol. It was too cute,
the pic has them both looking over at me while my
youngest daughter is taking the picture as they would
not even smile when I tried to take it, they just both
stared at me! Anyway, Madison was on one leg and I had
Brayden on my lap but more on the other leg and every
time she got too close to me or I hugged, kissed or
even TALKED to HER, he would lean over and push her back!

Funny, too, SHE, who was not jealous of the other baby
on my lap and who we all called me Grandma to, WAS in fact
jealous when I was rubbing her Mommy’s belly and playing
with her baby brother due in April. She actually told
her Mom’s belly, “well, she was MY Grandma first”, lol.

Madison will be three on January 11 which is also her
Daddy’s birthday. Today is my *baby* brother’s birthday,
he is 42. He spent so much time with me as a baby/toddler
with my being so much older than him that he thought he
was MINE. My other brother is only two years younger
than me so there was quite a stretch between even them.

Here are pics with my Mom, son, youngest daughter,
my youngest brother’s son and OF COURSE, my grands.

Big Fat Dumb Costly Business Mistake: Quantity Does Matter
by Donna L. Johnson

Being the poster child for accountability, I don’t have a problem
with sharing my mistakes with the world. I look at it from the
perspective that my blunders save you time, provide learning
lessons, and result in more money in your pockets.

I spend quite a bit of time researching and learning from
other speakers and coaches by listening to their audios,
reading reports and newsletters, and participating in teleseminars.

Every guru I’d listened to always boasted about the number
of subscribers they had on their lists. I’d never listened
to anyone that was just getting started or who taught from
a beginner’s level. As such, I wasn’t aware of the importance
of creating your newsletter/ezine and sending it out regardless
of the number of people on your list. In this instance,
quantity trumps quality – some is better than none and you
need to market to your list of 10 or less just as you would
to a list of thousands.

You need to already have the infrastructure in place to support
your growing list and be ready for the influx of potential clients,
students, and mentees that are awaiting you. Let’s assume that you
send your newsletter out once a month. If each of those 10 folks
on your list forwarded your newsletter to just one person and that
person became a new subscriber, your list would double in roughly
30 days.  Your list of 10 has now grown to 20!

There will be those folks who tell you that it’s a waste of time
and money to market to such a small group of people. I’m here to
tell you that the people who have tens of thousands on their lists
didn’t just wake up one day to those numbers. It was a gradual process –
it may have taken some longer than others, but it didn’t just happen
because the opt-in fairy paid them a visit.

Well, I did it. Not only did I get the very first issue
of TAG, or Tallent Agency Gazzette out to my 25 subscribers
on Tuesday but I bit the bullet, as they say, and sent out
the first issue of MWT, or Marketing Warrioress Tips on
Wednesday. Rim will still be a Thursday issue, TAG is
planned to be a Tuesday one and MWT will be sporadic until
I get past 11 subscribers and then I imagine it will go
out on Saturdays. Eventually MWT will replace Rim Digest
ezine which has no mention of marketing or me in its name.

Feel more than free to sign up for one or the other or both:
mailto:jan@tallentagency.com for TAG and / or MWT.

The first issue of either or both can be sent to you by
sending an email to me at above address with ISSUE in

Search Engine Friendly Pages

There is no point in building a website unless there are
visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most
sites is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista
and so on. By designing a search engine friendly site,
you will be able to rank easily in search engines and
obtain more visitors.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots
to index websites to list on their search result pages.
They follow links to a page, read the content of the page
and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing
as people search for it.

To make your site index easily, avoid using frames on your
website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and
they might even abandon your site because of that. Also,
frames make it difficult for users to bookmark a specific
page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present important information in Flash movies or in
images. Search engine robots can only read text on your
source code so if you present important words in Flash
movies and images rather than textual form, your search
engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your
site so that search engine robots know at first glance
what that particular page is about and whether or not to
index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search
engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index
your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like <font> to style your page.
Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are
more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can
eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages
much lighter and faster to load.

Still a Newbie after all these Years

Eleven years ago I learned how to use a computer.
Ten years ago I started a home based business,
Tallent Agency, making documents and doing
Out-sourced office work. The same year I decided
To go on the net to see if I could expand that business
And fell in love with the net and the idea of working
From home out of my office and ON the net.

I fell, as most do, in the beginning, for endless scams,
cons, get rich schemes, etc. and do consider this valuable
training, for which I earned an A+. This also helped me
in my quest to help countless others avoid the mistakes
I had made before I actually made some money on the net
and found ways to tell what is credible and what is not.

I have mentored others in how to sell, how to set up a site
TO sell with, how to find hosting and how to work their
control panels once they had hosting set up, how to weed out
the time wasters and focus on things that would either make
them money or at least teach them or benefit them and on
and on.

One of my constant reminders is to BACK IT UP, save, save,
save and back it up and save some more! The next one would
most probably be Do Not Start your DNS Transfer before
you move any thing you need moved, redirect any urls,
images or product packages hosted with this domain,
etc. and BOOM! I let life and constant distractions take
over my poor addled brain and did the very thing I have
been able to warn others NOT TO DO, without a thought!

Luckily, my big UHOH was easily fixable, my host for my
http://www.blogi360.com/jamaffiliates/id/2319 account
even allows for the possibility to change your domain
once your hosting is set up AND my long term and beloved
http://www.host4profit.com/cgi-bin/home.cgi?5168 which
has 6 of my domains and probably always will, was most
helpful with both storing my files for me to be able
to retrieve them and also welcoming tallentagency.com
right back as soon as I re-did the DNS transfer.

The moral of this story is two-fold, actually.

The easiest to SEE might be to have the best hosting
companies ever to service the net! The other one is
to map out or plan any drastic moves like a DNS transfer,
make a list of what needs to be done before, during and
after and stick to it. Check things off as they are done
so you do not get lost or confused and unless you are
lucky, like I was to HAVE a domain with nothing but
a doorway page stored with it, plan to have to redo,
rename, redirect, etc. all items IN the domain before
you even start the DNS transfer step as, as I learned
this time, it no longer takes the usual three days to
get things moving. Also, I did not panic when I realized
what I had done, at FIRST, as I kept waiting for the
email to come through with the link I had to click to
confirm that Yes, it was ME who had asked for the transfer-
I never did get that email so apparently that is no
longer a requirement.

Remember the saying “Look before you Leap”?
I thank God and two wonderful hosts that I could
UNleap after I forgot to LOOK!
