Why Publish an eZine?

On the Internet, it is very possible to make money
without selling any product. One way of doing so is
through starting your own eZine, also known as an
electronic newsletter.

Visit mine, Rim Digest eZine at http://www.rimdigest.com
which will celebrate TEN YEARS with me as its editor
on February 10, 2010!

rim

In a nutshell, you send out your eZine issues
on a periodical basis to your subscribers.

The good part is that you have flexibility in automating
the process of sending out your eZine issues for you
or manually sending them on a periodical basis.

I send Rim Digest eZine out on Thursdays and have
only missed having TWO issues go out on time!

This is 52 weeks a year for almost ten years.

As an eZine publisher, not only can you easily achieve
the benefits a conventional newsletter publisher enjoys
without having to chop down several trees in the process,
you can easily and conveniently spread your marketing
influence and expertise to your base of subscribers
from the convenience of your computer.

In other words, you do not have to invest in expensive
printing equipment, a brick and mortar business, and hiring
staff just to run your own newsletter publication, resulting
in a lot of time, money and effort saved.

Basically, all you need to start your own eZine are
an auto responder and a list of people interested in
your information, knowledge, advice, tips and other
content that you provide in your eZine.

All in all, if you do not have your own product
or products to sell, publishing your own online
newsletter can be one of the wisest decisions
you will ever make, given the benefits of
impressive marketing power and influence it
can offer to you.

I love doing my eZine and some of my subcribers
are like my other family! Some of them have been
with me the entire time I have published!

Finding The Right Home Business Model

Finding the right home business model on the Internet
may or may not be a lot of work. There is no surefire
way to make money, but that doesn’t mean people will
stop trying.

People are finding ways to experiment with new
strategies and are trying to find business models that
actually work for what they need.

The answer is really a no-brainer : If it
doesn’t work, fix it. If your business model is not
working for you, change it. If you are not seeing the
profits you should from your current model, it is time
to change things.

Many businesses have gone through this sort of
change. With more and more people conducting
business over the Internet and more people using
mainstream media, it is only smart to change what no
longer works.

If the tires on your car won’t get you to where you
need to go, then it is obvious that they should
be changed.

Slow sales and slower uptake of online offerings have
forced many companies to focus on their core
competencies.

Companies are now aggressively marketing their services
to companies who need streaming media. Now many businesses
have taken their focus off of hard advertising and are
focusing on media advertising.

They were forced to change their business models or
could have suffered greatly, some even risking
going out of business.

It is very important to have a good business model set
up when going into business for yourself. Learn from
the biggest and most profitable companies.

The Evolution of Home Based Business Models

The development of business models has a brief
history. The oldest, most basic business model is the
shopkeeper model.

This involves setting up a store in a location where
customers are likely to be and displaying your
product or service for all the passer-bys to see.

Here is mine, Jan’s Country Discout Store, that I
am trying to sell out:

http://tallenta.my-ehost.com/country_store.php

Over the years, business models have evolved,
changed and become more sophisticated.

The bait and hook business model was introduced in the
early 20th century. This model involved offering a
basic service for a low cost, often at a loss.

This part is the bait. Then by charging compensatory
recurring amounts for refills or other products or
services, this is the hook.

Examples are the razor, which is the bait, and blades,
which are the hook, cell phones that are the bait and
the service charges and airtime that are the hook.

In the 1950’s new business models came from some of
today’s well-known companies like McDonald’s and
Toyota.

In the 1960’s, Wal-Mart was the innovator and the
1970’s saw new business models from FedEx, Toys R Us,
the 1980’s pushed Blockbuster, Home Depot and many
computer companies to the forefront with their
innovative business models.

In turn, many dot-coms suffered because of their
poorly thought out business models.

Today’s business models depend on how the technology
available is used. Entrepreneurs on the Internet have
also created new models that depend on the emergent of
technology.

Using computer technology, a business has the
advantage of reaching a large amount of customers with
a minimal cost.

Here are MY online stores:

with Tangible items like memorablilia, hard to find and
out of print movies, Barbies and other collector dolls, etc.

and my digital superstore:
http://www.softwarewarrioress.com

selling downloadable software, ebooks, complete digital business
packages with resale rights, master resell rights AND
private label rights.

Here is my best selling digital business in a box!

Managing these online stores is a breeze compared to
a brick and mortar biz and at almost NO COST to run!

Four Basic Components of a Home Business Model

It is essential when starting a new, home-based business
that you plan on every possible thing that could happen.

Not only does this help you reach a goal for the future,
it also helps if you are trying to get financing for your
home-based business.

This important information is what makes up a home
business model. And there are four basic components of
each stage of building a business.

A great business model can only be composed after the
components of each stage have been identified.

The components of a home business model include the
infrastructure. The core components are capabilities
and competencies necessary to execute a company’s
business model.

The partner network is the business alliances which
complement other aspects of the business model and the
value, which is the rationale that makes a business
mutually beneficial for the business as well as for
its customers.

The offering of a home business model is the value
proposition. These are the products and services a
business offers.

In short, it is what the customer gets for what the
customer pays.

A customer can evaluate a company’s value on two broad
dimensions with multiple subsets.

The vendors’ marketing and sales efforts offer a
customer value proposition.

Next come the customers. You need to know who your
target customers are, the target audience for your
business products and services.

The distribution channel is the means by which a company
delivers its goods and services to a customer.

This could be through a simple means as the postal
service or a major trucking company driving your
products across country.

Customer relationship is key in a business model.

I have several businesses, one offline, one both on AND offline and

several online. The basics are the same whether you market on or

offline. I have a brick and mortar store, a home based office where

I offer both offline document creations and Virtual Assistance online.

http://www.tallentagency.com

I also have an online store selling memorabilia, hard to find or out of print movies,

collectors dolls and more here:   http://www.downmemorylanetreasures.com/

and a digital superstore with eBooks, software, ready made businesses TO sell

digitals, resale rights products and more here: http://www.softwarewarrioress.com

PC Crash Nightmare!

MW

Well, it is with remorse and thanks for being such a useful resource that I must repectfully say goodbye to my seven year old, upgraded to the point of no more upgrades possible, HP desk top computer.

The only thing left TO upgrade or replace was the processor and I put it off a TAD too long and it got to the point where it took 5 to 20 attempts just to BOOT up and once applications started loading up it just froze and would not run.

Lucky for me I have had Operating Systems crash, lightning strikes that destroyed my pc’s and other reasons to get in the habit of backing up BUT, ignoring my own great advice to constantly do this, I found that once again I had neglected to back up the things I would most need when the old PC hit the dust.

I have spent the past few days pretty much unable to work being trying unsuccessfully to FIX the old one to finally breaking down and replacing it with a new one, which I have been learning to use as quickly as possible and slowly but surely getting most of my info, files and other necessities onto it.

I am now thankfully back in business and waiting for a tech friend to put the cd drive from the old computer into the new one safely so that I can access the files and apps I need and then make sure I do as least weekly backups of ALL, including mail, which I am really lax at backing up but contains most of my log-ins, affiliate details, sales and expense records and more.

Good to be back up and running and the lesson today is BACK IT UP and so do constantly!

whew! what a week!

Jan  :-)

Well, I am proud to announce that my brand name
page for Marketing Warrioress on my BLOGi360 site
is ready! I had NEVER worked with word press before
so it took some catching on but I love it.

thanks to my best friend, Sharon, for helping me
with an image I love that is my pic, iCop seal
AND contact info all in one :-) without further ado,
as they say in show biz- here it is:
http://www.marketingwarrioress.com/

I also was told about a really neat site that makes
widgets for fund raisers, etc. and have one on the
Rim home page and the MW.com one. The page for this
is http://jantallent.chipin.com/roof-and-kitchen-repair

Now have made sales / gotten donations to the tune of
$600 to fix my roof and kitchen. This is enough to
PATCH my roof but will be another temporary solution
like the new roll roofing one I had gotten in the
spring. Chances are good it will storm next week as
predicted, I am fervently hoping it does not.

There is a sign up on the Marketing Warrioress page
for yet another ezine, MW Tips. It is still in the
planning but I did get one subscriber, lol.

remember, you can get updates on my personal and
professional undertakings, if you like, here:

and follow me on twitter:

but I must warn you, not only it is great for
quick messages to friends or family and a GREAT
business networking medium, it IS addictive :-)

The Importance of a Sitemap

By highlighting the importance of having a well constructed
sitemap, I hope that you will be able to tailor your own
sitemap to suit your own needs.

1) Navigation purposes

A sitemap literally acts as a map of your site. If your
visitors browse your site and gets lost between the
thousands of pages on your site, they can always refer
to your sitemap to see where they are, and navigate
through your pages with the utmost ease.

2) Conveying your site’s theme

When your visitors load up your sitemap, they will get
the gist of your site within a very short amount of time.
There is no need to get the “big picture” of your site by
reading through each page, and by doing that you will be
saving your visitors’ time.

3) Site optimization purposes

When you create a sitemap, you are actually creating
a single page which contains links to every single page
on your site. Imagine what happens when search engine
robots hit this page — they will follow the links on
the sitemap and naturally every single page of your site
gets indexed by search engines! It is also for this purpose
that a link to the sitemap has to be placed prominently
on the front page of your website.

4) Organization and relevance

A sitemap enables you to have a complete bird’s eye view
of your site structure, and whenever you need to add new
content or new sections, you will be able to take the
existing hierarchy into consideration just by glancing
at the sitemap. As a result, you will have a perfectly
organized site with everything sorted according to its relevance.

From the above reasons, it is most important to implement
a sitemap for website projects with a considerable size.
Through this move, you will be able to keep your website
easily accessible and neatly organized for everyone.

Chuckle Break

The Law Of The Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the
airport. We were driving in the right lane when
suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space
right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on
his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by
just inches! The driver of the other car whipped
his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.
And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked,
“Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined
your car and sent us to the hospital!”

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call,
“The Law of the Garbage Truck.” He explained that many
people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of
garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full
of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need
a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you.
Don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them
well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread
it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let
garbage trucks take over their day. Life’s too short
to wake up in the morning with regrets, so….. Love
the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones
who don’t. You gotta love them too!
